These are all of the various instruments available at the Jampad.

Keyboards

The Keyboard

Roland VR-09

The keyboard is the most simple device of the bunch. The keyboard has some of the basics like organ sounds, piano, synth and drums. Even though it’s the simplest it is still an essential music making tool and with the ability to transpose the black and white keys to a certain key makes it a lot easier for beginners to play along with pre-made songs and loops.

The Midi Controller

AKAI Professional Advance 61

The Midi controller is a keyboard that interfaces with computer software. It’s like a computer typing keyboard but for music! Oh yeah, ours also has little pads that you can use for drums.

The Synthesizer

KingKorg

The synthesizer is similar to the keyboard but of course, it’s controls are more geared towards a synth. It has a wide variety of sounds that can be used in music creation. The synthesizer also includes a vocoder for vocal manipulation

The Keytar

Roland AX-Edge

Ever wanted to play the guitar, but it’s a little out of your league? This device is a simple keyboard put into a guitar style shape. Go on, rock star!

The Keytar is a basic keyboard with all of the features you would expect, but our model has it’s own unique set of sounds in a bank called the “edge lead”. This is a great little instrument,.

Electronic Equipment

The iPad

1x iPad 4, 1x iPad 5 (2017)

The iPad has various apps which can achieve some great tasks and make music making a lot easier for everyone. some of the apps the Jampad loves to use in music teaching and creation are on our software page, go and check it out here!. You might want to get some of these for your own iPad or iPhone.

The Computer

The Jampad also has a computer for music creation that has various music creation software, for more info on software refer to our software page.

The Looper

BOSS RC-505 Loop Station

The looper is a device that loops previously played instruments notes or sequences. For example if you play some notes on a piano and record to the looper it will play the same thing you played over and over again until stopped.

One-shots

One-shot loops are not loops. One-shots are a single recorded sound that plays once when the assigned button is pressed. This can be useful for short recorded voice samples within songs.

Loops

A loop is a previously recorded sound, instrument, or set of sounds that is played over and over again until stopped. Loops can be set to have different lengths, loops can be recorded over and you are able to stop and play loops at any time with everything still being synced to the beat.

FX (Long)

The looper has built in audio FX that are separated into two types. Input FX effect anything that is playing into the looper's input. Track FX only effect any previously recorded loops.

Our primary Input FX (works both with Input FX and Track FX):

FILTER:
A filter modifies the brightness or thickness of the sound by cutting a specific frequency range.

TRANSPOSE

ROBOT:
Cyber-robot voice for vocals.

VOCODER:
Vocoder sound that uses the audio input to modulate the sound of the track you specify.

DELAY:
Adds a delayed sound to the direct sound, giving the sound greater depth or creating special
effects.

REVERB:
Adds reverberation to the sound.

Our primary Track FX (works only with Track FX):

BEAT REPEAT:

Plays the track repeatedly in time with the beat.
Turning the [TRACK FX] knob will change the length of the repeat.

VINYL FLICK:

The track will sound as though you are touching the turntable.
Turning the [TRACK FX] knob slowly will change the playback speed; turning the knob quickly
will produce a spin-like effect.

The Sampler

KORG Electribe Sampler

The sampler is very similar to the MPC. But has a few notable differences. such as smaller pads that make it easier to make a quick beat and a keyboard function on the device.

Read more on the specific functions:

Keyboard

This device has samples that can be played in a specific note with a keyboard function. This can be achieved with either the little touch pad on the left side of the board or by pressing the button for keyboard. This allows you to make quick loops without needing a whole keyboard.

Sample board

The sampler has many built in samples of things like piano notes, basses,
vocals and other instruments. these can be played using assigned buttons on the Sampler. You can use these in music creation. Doing things like playing different samples in a sequence and looping them with the looper. This device’s samples make it a quick and easy to make loops and songs.

The MPC

AKAI Professional MPC Live

The MPC is a sample board that has a few different uses. Click on one of the features to read more about it.

Drumpad

Similarly to the drum pad the MPC can be used for drums but with smaller buttons instead of pads and is not to be used with drum sticks. The device contains many drum samples that can be used in a song. Samples include kicks, snares, claps, FX and hi-hats. They can be played by hitting the assigned button. Some drum samples are also sequences meaning if you press one it will play all the way through as one sound.

Sample board

The MPC has many built in samples of things like piano notes, basses, vocals and other instruments. these can be played using assigned buttons on the MPC. You can use these in music creation. Doing things like playing different samples in a sequence and looping them with the looper. The MPC can also record samples from other sources such as microphones, samples from other interments or audio recorded from a computer or phone that you have found on the internet or from other sounds you’ve made. When imported into the MPC you can assign the buttons to play the whole or parts of recorded audio. For example if you have a recording of someone saying “the JamPad” you could chop “the” “jam” and “pad” separately and play them in whatever order you’d like.

The APC

AKAI Professional APC40 MKII

The APC is similar to the looper, but is a lot more advanced and everything is done through a connected computer with a music making software. This device allows you to record and play many loops. This is a great tool for jamming and live performances but it does have a steep learning curve.

Drums

Electronic Drum Kit

Roland TD-11KV

A drum kit, what else?

The Drumpad

Roland Octapad SPD30

The Drumpad is an instrument that has 8 pads that play various drum samples. The pads can be used either with hands or drum sticks.
